Marcus Reid is a Senior Research Analyst at DeFi Development, where he leads vendor evaluation research across blockchain development studios, DeFi protocols, and Web3 engineering teams.
With 9 years of experience in technical vendor assessment, Marcus has reviewed over 300 blockchain development engagements across EVM, Solana, Cosmos, and NEAR ecosystems. He developed the four-criteria scoring methodology used in all DeFi Development rankings — evaluating studios on protocol delivery speed, smart contract quality, client satisfaction, and pricing transparency.
Prior to joining DeFi Development, Marcus worked in technology investment research under NDA arrangements with institutional clients evaluating Web3 infrastructure vendors. He has conducted structured reference interviews with founders at more than 200 DeFi protocols and blockchain projects, building one of the most comprehensive independent datasets on development studio performance in the industry.
Marcus holds a Computer Science degree and has completed advanced coursework in cryptographic systems and distributed ledger architectures. He writes regularly on topics including smart contract security assessment, DeFi protocol evaluation frameworks, and the economics of blockchain outsourcing.
